What is the CKC?

The California Karate Club is actually a collection of 6 schools combined into one club. Although we have a large student base, every school (Or tribe) has several black belt leaders who personally see to the quality of the karate within their tribe. 

 All of our Instructors (Tribe Leaders) have been with the CKC, either since its inception or since they started as white belts. They are all students of Head Instructor Sean Davila from white belt to black belt. Every single leader is committed 100% to every single student in the entire club and teaching them the best martial arts in Santa Monica, all while having the best time in the city as well!  

Our Mission: To teach individuals to Explore, Enhance and Explode their potential in all areas of life through a dynamic martial arts program; teaching fitness, self-defense and traditional martial arts values. 


Some of our Unique Qualifications

* Our Owner, brings the experience of a Masters Degree with an emphasis on Child Development to our children's program

* Our Lead Instructor is the National Fighting Champion, and is ranked number one in forms and number three in weapons - and has lead our team to 24 First and Second place victories on a national level over the past four years

* Our Director, has trained all of our Instructors from white belt and earned his black belt on the Island of Okinawa

* Not all of our Black belts are National Champions, but ALL have done something amazing in life, using the strength that martial arts ahs given them - that is what karate is all about at the CKC - it makes you better at everything else you do! 

* Most importantly, WE LOVE WHAT WE DO and each and every student has a direct and Personal Relationship with the Director, Sean Davila. ! 


About Our Instructors

Owner/ Director: Sensei Sean Davila
 Director and 4rth Degree Black Belt, he is also a former Youth Minister who has personally studied Isshin-Ryu Karate under the highest ranking masters in both Okinawa and the United States. He also travels the nation extensively studying how the best schools are empowering modern day warriors through martial arts.

Sensei Sean is well known in the martial arts community, but feels his truest accomplishment is his family of a great wife, two sons and that unbelievably stupid dog of theirs.  His main goal with the school today is to empower modern warriors with the same gifts martial arts have given him,  as tools to success in life. 


Owner/ Program Manager : Sensei Shelly Davila 
Behind every great man is a greater woman (Usually kicking him in the behind)! The CKC's success is definitely a by product of the amazing marriage that is Sean and Shelly!  Not only the owner of the CKC, she is also now working on starting a brand new "Tot Club" for all the other mothers in Santa Monica, who are as frustrated as her with the lack of creative play activities in our city!

Shelly graduated with honors with her Masters in Counseling, specializing in School Counseling. Shelly  is CA certified in child development and has been instrumental in making the CKC Life Skill/ Martial Arts curriculum the one in Santa Monica that everyone is chasing after. 


Lead Instructor: Sensei Joel Jimenez
Sensei Joel is not only the KIAI  National  Fighting Champion, number one ranked in forms and number three in weapons - but also something MUCH more important! He is an AMAZING instructor for both adults and children. People are often awed at this young man's ability working with small children! 

A successful entrepreneur as well, he is also the founder of a Hip Hop clothing line. How he finds time for this between winning national championships and motorcycle trips - only he can know! 




 Sensei Daniel Hutterer
 Or "Moose" is Sensei Sean's right hand man! Always has and always will be. When he is not doing Awesome Karate, Dan is usually found hitting the books at school these days! 










Sensei Kimberly White
 Miss Kimberly White is the quintessential black belt that every school needs! While she is not busy editing clips for the "Industry," she is  tirelessly training at the school and teaching classes whenever needed. She is an inspiration to all around her, and Sensei Sean wishes that he had 100 Kim's in the dojo. 










Sensei Dariush Derakshani
 Sensei DD is our "POWER-Sensei!" Known for his incredible power, the only thing that he is more known for, is his heart. He may be stronger than any bull you will ever meet, but he is also one of the nicest guys you can ever meet. Of all our tribe leaders, no one has given themselves more selflessly to those of their tribe, than he has.  









Sensei Valentine Urena
Sensei Valentine has been with the CKC since he was just a small kid! Now a man who is in college, it is awesome to have Sensei Valentine back on vacations teaching the kids the things that make him so good. By far the fastest footwork in Santa Monica - Sensei Valentine ROCKS!
